Who we are
This website is run by MAYDE, a trading name of Silkworm Store Limited (company number 14975462, registered office Arlington House, West Station Business Park, Spital Road, Maldon, Essex CM9 6FF). MAYDE is the controller of the personal data described here. Questions about your data: orders@maydeforyou.com.
What we collect and why
- When you order: your name, delivery and billing address, email, phone number (if given), what you bought and your order history. We use this to make, send and support your order, and to keep accounting records. Legal basis: performing our contract with you, and our legal obligations.
- Payments: card and wallet payments are handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment and limited details such as the card type and last four digits, but never your full card number.
- If you create an account: your login details and saved addresses, so you can see past orders and check out faster. Legal basis: contract.
- Request a part: your name, email, the details you send and any photos. We use them to reply to you and to decide what to design. Photos are emailed to us and not kept on the website. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering your enquiry.
- Orders from marketplaces: if you buy from us on Etsy, eBay or Amazon, the marketplace shares your name, delivery address and order details with us so we can make and send your order. We may manage those orders in this website’s order system. Legal basis: contract.
- Emails you send us: kept so we can reply and keep a record of your order. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
We don’t sell your data, and we’ll only send you marketing emails if you’ve asked us to.
Who we share it with
- Stripe, to take payments and prevent fraud.
- Royal Mail, to deliver your parcel and provide tracking.
- 20i, our UK website and email hosting provider.
- Our accountants and HMRC, where needed for tax and accounting.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use legally approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.
Cookies
We use cookies that the shop needs to work: to keep your basket and login, to keep checkout secure, and for Stripe to process payments and prevent fraud. WooCommerce also records which page or link brought you to the shop when you place an order (order attribution), stored as first-party cookies on this site. We don’t use advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
- Order and accounting records: 6 years after the end of the financial year, as required by UK tax law.
- Customer accounts: until you ask us to close your account (order records are then kept as above).
- Part requests and general emails: up to 2 years.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for it to be transferred to you or someone else. Email orders@maydeforyou.com and we’ll respond within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.
