Janome / elna RE20b cap hoop insert and cap retainer (set of 2)

This two-part set – a cap hoop insert and a cap retainer – is printed to order in tough PETG. It is an add-on accessory for an existing RE20b (type b) embroidery hoop, intended to let you embroider baseball caps. The hoop frame and the embroidery machine are not included.

What you get

• One cap hoop insert and one cap retainer in tough PETG, black, printed from the designer's V2 files.
• Parts only: the embroidery machine, the RE20b hoop frame, caps and stabiliser are not included.
• The design also uses two M6 threaded inserts and an M6 knurled screw, which are not included – see FITTING below.

Intended for

The design is based on a cap hoop insert made for the Janome / elna RE20b or type b hoop, which the designer describes as similar to the HH10b. It is reported for use with that hoop on the Janome Memory Craft 300E, 350E, 400E, 500E, 550E, 9500, 9700, 10000, 10001, 11000 and 11000SE. We have not yet confirmed the fit on each model.

We print the designer's V2 version, in which the designer corrected a centring error in the first version.

Check the fit

Check that you have the RE20b or type b hoop, and compare its inner frame with the photos before ordering. If you are unsure, message us with your machine model, your hoop type and clear photos of the hoop, so we can help identify what you need.

Fitting

The designer's version uses two M6 threaded inserts (M6 x 8 x 8) and an M6 knurled screw with a thread length of about 12.7 mm. These are not included; please message us before ordering if you need to know how they fit.

The designer recommends an adhesive embroidery stabiliser, clamped in with the cap insert, to help hold the cap. Before stitching, check that the insert is held securely in the hoop frame and the cap is held firmly.

Material & finish

Printed to order in our workshop in Great Dunmow, Essex. Tough PETG is used for both parts, in black. Fine layer lines are a normal part of the 3D-printed finish.
