ATH-M50x earcup hinge repair blocks (pair)

This pair of earcup hinge repair blocks is printed to order in black PETG. They are intended to replace the small plastic piece that holds each earcup in place, a well-known failure point. They are hinge blocks only – glue and the headphones are not included.

What you get

• Two earcup hinge repair blocks in black PETG, one for each earcup.
• Blocks only: the headphones, glue and sandpaper are not included.
• The blocks are glued in place – see FITTING below.

Intended for

The design is based on a hinge fix made for Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones. We have not yet confirmed the fit on each model.

Other versions and models have not been checked. A separate design exists for the ATH-M40x, and this part is not intended for it.

Check the fit

Compare the broken hinge piece on your headphones before ordering. If you are unsure, contact us with your headphone model and clear photos of the broken hinge on both sides, so we can help identify what you need.

Fitting

The blocks are glued in place; glue is not included. The designer suggests a suitable glue (a super glue gel), lightly scuffing the surfaces with sandpaper before gluing, and waiting 24 hours before use. The repair is more rigid than the original piece, so the headphones will not fold as neatly afterwards. The hinge carries load every time the headphones are worn, and durability under repeated use has not yet been tested: check the repair is secure before wearing, and check it regularly.

Material & finish

Printed to order in our workshop in Great Dunmow, Essex, in black PETG, a tough material. Fine layer lines are a normal part of the 3D-printed finish.
